The Energy Shift I’m Making This Month

Creating Life First Business Strategy

for Entrepreneurs

This week’s Better Together Round-Up is here! Think: one game-changing strategy, the resources you didn’t know you needed, and a few fun favorites we’re loving right now. Quick to read, packed with value—you in? 🕒 3-minute read, unlimited inspiration.

Hi Reader,

It’s still 17 degrees in Ohio.
There is still snow on the ground.
And I can say with full confidence: this has been the hardest winter in a while.

I’ve officially (and lovingly) self-diagnosed myself with Seasonal Winter Dread.
You know the kind—where you look up flights “just to browse,” fantasize about vitamin D, and whisper get me on a plane at least once a day.

And yet… here we are. A new month anyway.

So instead of fighting the season, I decided to do something different. I’m choosing my energy this month—on purpose.

Not “new year, new me” energy. More like steady, supportive, let’s-work-with-what-we’ve-got energy.

Here’s what that looks like for me right now:

1. Starting the day slower (yes, with meditation).
I am not naturally a morning meditator. At all. (It's actually VERY hard for me). But after meeting with my new functional medicine doctor and learning my cortisol is 300% higher than it should be in the morning (!!!), we are taking… let’s call them loving but drastic measures.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s regulation. Here are a few I have been trying.

2. Honoring my prime time.
I finally stopped pretending I can do deep work at any hour.

For me?
🕘 9–12ish (sometimes stretching to 2) is gold. After 2 pm, my brain wants admin, light tasks, or to be left alone entirely. And that’s not a flaw—it’s information.

The goal is to get the ONE deep task done first thing. (Like writing this newsletter at 7 am before the day starts).

3. Doing something creative every day.
Not for content. Not for productivity. Just because.

This week looked like:

  • Creating a Valentine’s mantel
  • Still cooking consistently (the one thing I said I wanted to focus on this year) - Protein rice crispie treats. Yes please!

Creativity doesn’t have to be complicated to be nourishing.

4. Thinking in quarters, not months.
Some weeks are slower. Some weeks surprise you.
That’s normal.

I’m sticking to the quarterly plan and actually tracking progress by quarter, not by how motivated I feel on a random Tuesday.

Consistency > urgency.

5. Moving my body every day (with a little help).
Currently walking on the treadmill while watching Tell Me Lies and… whew.
It is steamy. How did I not start this sooner?

If movement happens with a side of entertainment, I’m not asking questions.

None of this is about forcing momentum.
It’s about choosing consistency so momentum can happen naturally—even in the middle of winter, even when the energy is low, even when the sun is doing the bare minimum.

If this season has taught me anything, it’s this:
You don’t need a perfect environment to move forward.
You just need an energy you can actually sustain.

Before you close this email, try this:

Take 60 seconds and finish this sentence—no overthinking allowed:
“This month, I’m choosing the energy of ______.”

That’s it. Not a goal. Not a plan. Just an energy.

Write it on a sticky note. Put it in your Notes app. Whisper it to yourself while making coffee. Let it guide your decisions instead of pressure driving the bus.

Small, steady choices count. Even in winter. Especially in winter. 🌤️

Until next Friday,
Holly

✨Your Weekly Anti-Social™ Shift

Choose Consistency before Intensity.

Instead of asking, “What do I want to accomplish this month?”
Try asking:

  • What’s one habit I can repeat even on my lowest-energy days?
  • Where can I work with my natural rhythms instead of against them?
  • What would feel grounding—not impressive—right now?

Pick one small thing.
Do it often.

Quiet consistency creates momentum too. 💛
