This week’s Better Together Round-Up is here! Think: one game-changing strategy, the resources you didn’t know you needed, and a few fun favorites we’re loving right now. Quick to read, packed with value—you in? 🕒 3-minute read, unlimited inspiration.
Hi Reader,
This week felt like business strategy meets survival mode.
We got 17 inches of snow here in Ohio – the most we’ve had in 20 years. School was canceled. All week. And you know what? It wasn’t that bad. Yes, there were ups and downs and lots of schedule changes, but it reminded me of one thing.
Weeks like this were the whole point.
I’ve spent years building a schedule that could flex when life does what it does. So when the snow hit, I didn’t panic. Well, I did for a second, but then, I lived it. 😉
Yes, I worked.
Yes, I filmed videos in a ball cap with three-day-old hair, which maybe wasn't the whole plan, but it worked.
And yes, I also Netflixed and chilled, made hot chocolate and lunch for the girls' friends, and became the unofficial hangout house.
Watched: Skyscraper Live and Shrinking (literally the best show on TV)
Read: Made it to book 2
Workout: Fav bootcamp on repeat
YouTube Addiction: Yes, I ordered cake decorating supplies 🤷♀️
The point. We made the most of it.
And also? We kicked off our Q1 Co-Op cohort and hosted our monthly planning party. Because a flexible life-first business doesn’t mean you stop showing up. It means you show up on your terms.
In the middle of it all, two questions came up over and over again from clients this week. And they’re ones you might be asking too:
- What do you do when nothing goes as planned?
- Can I even ask this? (re: inside our community)
Let’s talk strategy—the kind you actually use when life is lifing, and your plan has left the chat. This week, I want you to steal my strategy.
Let’s start with the first question: What do you do when nothing goes as planned?
I call this SOS Mode. And it starts with one question:
What’s the ONE thing I need to get done today to survive the day?
That’s it. Not the 12-step launch plan. Not the 3-hour content batching dream. Just the one thing.
If you’re not in full SOS mode, zoom out a bit:
- What is your goal in the next 30, 60, 90 days?
- Do you need a cash injection?
- Are you in emergency mode or just in need of a pivot?
If YES to emergency cash flow, try this:
- Offer Audit: What do you already have that your audience is craving? Can you make it better, live, or simpler?
- Warm Leads: Who already knows and trusts you? Reach out to 3-5 people today. Start a real conversation.
- Show Your Work: When was the last time you pulled back the curtain? Behind-the-scenes content is magnetic.
And remember this: when things feel tight, go deeper, not wider. You don’t need more people. You need stronger connections.
The second theme that came up: Can I even ask this?
YES.
This week, we needed community. We needed:
- A place to vent
- A space to ask "Is it just me?"
- People to bounce strategy off of
- Permission to be human
So many of us are building businesses in the margins—between snow days, school pickups, and world news that feels heavy. Of course you have questions. Ask them. All of them.
That’s what we do in our community, and frankly, it’s what makes the difference between spinning out and moving forward.
Want to know what I actually did this week?
I went deep.
- My team and I reviewed and optimized our funnels. How can we serve our current audience better?
- We looked at our podcast (600+ episodes!) and started creating new resources to help you find the best of the best. (If you want the cliff notes MBA, start here.)
- We designed a secret offer for our email list that isn’t even on our site. Because sometimes the best strategy is serving the people right in front of you.
That’s it. Nothing flashy. Just focused.
The theme? Go deep.
You don’t need more. Optimize what you already have.
Until next Friday,
Holly
