I stopped telling my own story

This week's Better Together Round-Up is here! Think: one strategy that actually moves the needle, the resources you didn't know you needed, and a few fun favorites we're loving right now. Quick to read, packed with value. You in? 🕒 3-minute read, unlimited inspiration.

Hi Reader,

My nephew got married this weekend.

My new niece walked down the aisle to "You Are In Love" by Taylor Swift, and I was not prepared. It was gorgeous. My stepdaughter and her husband were in town; everyone was in one room at the same time, which almost never happens around here, so naturally I made everybody stand still for a photo.

Now, something completely unrelated that I have been sitting with. Every week I sit down to write this email, and for the first time in a long time, I was like, what do I share? And then followed my own advice. Ask yourself. What are you working on?

Here's what has come up for me.

Anti-Social School™, our signature program is built on collaboration. That is the entire model. Other people's audiences, other people's stages, other people's rooms. So this year I went all in on it. Summits. Bundles. Affiliate partnerships. Guest episodes. Collabs with people I genuinely love working with.

And in the middle of all of it, I stopped telling my own story. (Dont worry, that is also part of the model, and the first thing we teach!) I just skipped it. 😳 Blame it on a lot of travel, pre-teen daughters, a new puppy etc., but it was easier to jump into others rooms than host my own.

It wasn't something I did on purpose. I just kept showing up in everyone else's house and quietly stopped talking about mine. What I actually do all day. What I stand for. How I work with people. Who is in our rooms and what happens in them.

Here is the number that got me.

This year we have served over 100 women. Thousands over the years.

I have not mentioned it once. Not one single time.

The good news is our community has filled anyway, which I am choosing to take as a good sign and not examine too closely.

But it is a little embarrassing. I spend my days telling women to stop hiding and go say what they do, and I quietly stopped doing it myself. You heard me tell stories on other platforms, but not mine.

So, fixing it.

Here is what you will see more of from me:

What I actually do behind the scenes.
Case studies from real clients.
Things I believe.
Opinions I will put my name on.
And what is happening inside our community. Because it's truly a beautiful reflection of the good side of entrepreneurship.

That last one most of all. We have built something I am proud of and I have been oddly quiet about it. Scroll down, I added a whole new section for it. 😉

XO,
Holly

P.S. If we have worked together at any point over the years, hit reply and tell me what you are working on right now. I want to know, and I would love to share some of it here.

Your Weekly Anti-Social™ Shift

Collaboration gets you found. Your own story is what makes anyone stay.

Collabs are still the best growth lever I know. Someone else vouches for you and you skip two years of building trust from scratch.

Here is the part nobody warns you about.

Borrowed audiences arrive knowing exactly one thing about you. If the next thing they see is another collab, and the thing after that is another guest spot, you stay a guest in your own business. They came in warm and nothing kept them warm.

That was my whole year. Busy top of funnel, silent middle.

The fix is not more content. It is different content. Five things do the work:

Behind the scenes, so they see how you operate.
Case studies, so they see it works on someone who is not you.
Beliefs, so they know what they are walking into.
Opinions, so they remember you are a person.
Community, so they can picture themselves in the room.

This week: open your last 10 pieces of content. Count how many were about someone else's launch, event, or promo. More than half and you have my exact problem. Swap the next two for a case study and a behind the scenes.
