I was 46 when I learned this

TL;DR - Life-first business strategy, delivered weekly. One strategy you can actually use, a few resources worth your time, and a couple favorites we're loving right now. You in? đź•’ 3-minute read.

Hi Reader,

September is a vibe.

I was 46 years old (last year) when I realized this season is called the Ber months. Get it? September, October, November and December.

Forty-six.

Hands down my favorite time of the year. But it takes a minute to get into it. Because I just spent what feels like 8,987 days with my girls and my family, working in 20 minute increments. And now I have space.

There is a cool crisp feeling in the air and I can feel the season shifting. Although I am writing this and it is 95 degrees. But it is coming.

As I sat down to write this week’s newsletter, I kept thinking what I told my clients this week. When was the last time you shared what you do? A lot of times I forget to share what I actually do. This week was one of those weeks where I felt honored that this is my job.

Monday, I took off and got a facial. (That quarterly thing one should do in their late 40s.) I do the Nano. It does not feel great, but it is a great non-Botox option.

Tuesday and Thursday were 1:1 client calls. We mapped out a November anti-Black Friday sale. I helped a client build out her consulting practice (I have three clients right now who came from corporate to build their own services). And we mapped a product suite for a travel agency, figuring out how they (it's a husband and wife team) make money without selling trips.

Fun.

I did walk and talks with two friends. My own version of therapy.

I worked on launching our new Co-Op program, coming this winter. Take a peek here.

And I ended the week today meeting with the photographer for our annual Fall Fest retreat, where 13 women are coming to Columbus to spend time with me and our team.

Whew. It is the best kind of busy.

All of this was behind the scenes while my email did the work.

Not one hour of that week was spent posting. That is the whole reason I could take Monday off. It is why I can say yes to a walk in the middle of a Wednesday. It is why I have room for a season I actually love instead of spending it in my phone.

So I am opening the room and showing you exactly how it works.

The Anti-Social School™ Marketing Roundtable is Tuesday, September 15th at 12 EST. We normally run this room for members only. Your first seat is free.

I am walking through our email formula, the segmentation setup that took one of our sends from 41% opens to 67%, and where AI actually fits (and where it does not).

One pass per person. đź’›

And then think about what makes this season yours.

Apple picking. Practical Magic. Pumpkins on the porch. Long walks. Cool temps and the first morning you need a jacket.

Go do more of that while your email does the work.

XO,
Holly

P.S. If you cannot make it live, register anyway and I will send you the replay. But live is where you get a hot seat and your own question answered. A replay cannot do that.

✨Your Weekly Strategy Shift

Nobody knows what you do

When was the last time you shared behind the scenes of what you really do?

Not the offer. Not the pitch. The Tuesday. The client call where something finally clicked. The thing you are building that nobody has seen yet.

People buy from people whose work they can picture. And most of us are so deep in the work that we forget to say any of it out loud.

This week: send one email that is just a peek behind the door. No pitch attached. Watch what comes back.

A few things I'm loving, sharing, and clicking this week:

  • I am speaking at Her AI Era about how we update our website using Kajabi and Claude, and the time we saved still feels made up.
  • I dug into our email strategy and why it has outperformed posting reels on this episode.
  • When Mariah teaches, I listen. Her free 14 Day SEO Challenge is open.
  • Practical Magic 2 is in theaters September 11th and I have already decided this is an event, not a movie.
  • Just started this book.
  • Our happy hour drink of the summer is this one, and the fall version is officially in rotation now.

Some of the links I share may be affiliate links, which means I might earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—if you decide to make a purchase. I only ever recommend tools and resources I truly love and use myself. Think of it as a little thank-you for supporting what we do around here. 🫶
