No January required

Hi Reader,

Everybody is waiting for January.

New year, new plan, fresh start, all of it. And I get the appeal. But you have 3.5 months sitting right here. Already paid for. Already on the calendar.

The people who start in January spend January building. The people who start now spend January collecting.

Here is what that looks like in my own business right now.

This September I am not launching anything publicly. Not because I ran out of ideas. Because of my actual calendar.

We have a family wedding this weekend. My stepdaughter and her husband are visiting from Austin. The girls turn 13. (Thirteen.) 😳 It is my husband's birthday. And I am hosting a retreat for 14 women here in Columbus.

Oh, and it is my favorite season and I would like to be present for it.

So instead of forcing a launch into that, I practiced what I preach.

I picked a number. What I want to earn between now and the end of the year. But I did not leave it as a dollar amount, because a dollar amount does not get me out of bed. I mapped it to how many families we can help. That number I will chase.

I cut the fancy launch. I said no to anything that required me to create something new. No new offer, no new funnel, no new freebie. Nothing built from scratch in Q4 and instead am leaning into segmentation. And serving those who are asking.

I focused on one thing. One. Not a Q4 content calendar with six priorities on it.

And I got in rooms I did not have to build. This is the one most people skip. If you do not want a big public launch, you do not need one. Borrow an audience. Get in somebody else's room and talk about what you are selling. That is where my clients come from and it costs me a fraction of what a launch does.

My goal in all of it: December off. We are taking the girls to NYC to celebrate their 13th birthday (officially). Rockettes are a bucket list for me.

January light.

Q4 planned and coordinated instead of scrambled.

That is available to you too, and you do not need twelve months to get there.

If you want to see the system underneath all of this, I am opening a room on Tuesday.

The Anti-Social School™ Marketing Roundtable is Tuesday, September 15th at 12 EST. Normally members only. Your first seat is free, one pass per person.

I am walking through our email formula, the segmentation setup that took one of our sends from 41% opens to 67%, and where AI fits (and where it does not). This is the thing doing the selling while my calendar looks like the one above. 💛

XO,
Holly

P.S. Register even if Tuesday does not work. I will send you the replay. But live is where you get a hot seat and your own question answered, and that part does not record.

✨Your Weekly Strategy Shift

Give your number a face

Most revenue goals do not motivate anyone. Including the person who set them.

$40,000 by December 31st is a fine target and it will not get you to your desk on a Tuesday in November.

So convert it. How many clients is that? How many families? How many women get their evenings back? Same math, completely different pull.

This week: take your Q4 number and rewrite it as people instead of dollars. Then put that version where you can see it.

A few things I'm loving, sharing, and clicking this week:

  • Stef Gass is running a podcast bootcamp and I got you a VIP seat. Use code HOLLY. If you want to start a podcast anytime soon, this is a no-brainer.
  • If you want to book clients before your launch even starts, Brenna's Pre-Launch Plan is the one I point people to.
  • Tis the season. 🧙‍♀️Another book I am excited about.
  • Netflix is doing a new Pride and Prejudice this fall and the internet has opinions. I watched the trailer twice hoping for more. The girls and I can’t wait for this new series, however. #TeamGryffindor
  • The perfect fall dress. I am wearing it to my nephew's wedding this weekend. The theme is fall in a flower field. I die.

Some of the links I share may be affiliate links, which means I might earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—if you decide to make a purchase. I only ever recommend tools and resources I truly love and use myself. Think of it as a little thank-you for supporting what we do around here. 🫶
