The week I sweat through my jeans

Hi Reader,

I thought this week was going to be chill. A few meetings, one last slow week before school starts Monday.

Then came the 7th grade walk-through. If you're a twin mom, you know: two kids, two schedules, and somehow you're supposed to be present for both at the exact same time.

The air conditioning at the school was out. And of course, this was the day I decided to retire my Athleta short outfit I have worn every day for the last month for cute flowy jeans and a tank top. I sweated through both.

The saving grace? The PTO had a local coffee truck parked at the end. Between the sweaty jeans, two sassy pre-teens, and a sprint to the car through rain that dumped 4 inches in about 5 minutes, that iced chai might have been the best thing I drank all summer.

24 hours later: puppy at the vet, power out, and a tree blocking the street in our neighborhood. As I write this, they're estimating 2 to 3 days before the lights come back on.

Deep breath.

Here's the ironic part. In our Co-Op mastermind office hours this week, I said almost these exact words to our members: this is not the season for me to sprint. And man, did this week prove it.

I'm so ready to be back on a normal routine. With power. And less rain. But I'm also a little sad summer is ending. Both can be true. For today, we are calling it a win to get this newsletter written and find some candles that work! (Too early for pumpkin spice?) ;)

Mostly, I'm grateful for a business that hasn't broken yet.

One system I've loved lately (thank you, Claude, and my website's MCP connector): our SEO and GEO. The audit runs on a schedule every month, so it's not me running it. I get a list of what to update, and the MCP connector makes the updates. It has saved me thousands in website work. And it kept working this week while my power didn't.

So since the power is out over here, a few things coming up that we planned ahead on. All totally free for you:

The SEO/GEO Workshop. I'm walking you through the exact system above. If you want leads finding you through Google, ChatGPT, and Claude while you're living your life (or waiting on the power company), start here.

I'm also hosting a conversation with Kit (formerly ConvertKit) on AI, their MCP connector, and how we actually make money with email.

Just in time for fall launches, the Podcast Playlist is ready for you.

And I was a guest on Sophia Parra's podcast talking about the strategy I use to generate up to 50 leads a month.

Come build the system that runs without you. đź’›

XO,
Holly

✨Your Weekly Strategy Shift

Schedule the system, not yourself.

When the power went out this week, my SEO audit still ran. Not because I pushed through. Because it was never depending on me in the first place.

That's the test for every system in your business: does it run on your calendar, or on your capacity? If the answer is capacity, it breaks the week you do. Pick one recurring task this month and move it from "I do this" to "this happens." That's the whole shift.

A few things I'm loving, sharing, and clicking this week:

  • We told our whole ads story on The Art of Online Business podcast.
  • The cute, flowy jeans I sweat through at the walk-through. Still worth it.
  • What the girls and I are reading together right now.
  • What if we started measuring things differently? This post was one of the few pieces of social content I created this summer.
  • Speaking of back to school, this trends roundup explains why your kid suddenly needs a very specific water bottle.

Some of the links I share may be affiliate links, which means I might earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—if you decide to make a purchase. I only ever recommend tools and resources I truly love and use myself. Think of it as a little thank-you for supporting what we do around here. 🫶

Hi Reader, The girls started 7th grade on Wednesday. Seventh. Grade. And the bus stop dream I built this entire business around got an upgrade I didn't see coming: Poppy came with us. If you're picturing a calm little puppy trotting along on a leash, no. She is mostly a tiny land shark before 7am....
